TRAIL of TEARS

Oklahoma has a sadder history than most know. before it was a state, it was land given to the natives by the government. in the early 1800's, it was inhabited by the five civilized tribes: the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee-Creek, and Seminole. in 8130, president Andrew Jackson initiated the Native American Removal Act. The first tribe to moved where the Chocktaw in 8131. then folowed the Choctaw and Seminole in 1832, Muscogee-Creek in1834, the Chicksaw in 1837, and finaly the Cherokee in 1838. some Afericans accompanied them in their removal frome their homelands for freedom. 46,000 Native Americans were relocated in the end, so that our government could have 25 million more acres to settle.
